Overview

Nestled in the charming alleyways of Venice's Barbaria de le Tole, Trattoria Bandierette offers an authentic Italian dining experience steeped in the essence of Venetian coastal cuisine. This intimate restaurant brings to the table a celebration of fresh seafood alongside classic pasta preparations, creating a perfect harmony between traditional flavors and local freshness.

The atmosphere is quietly inviting, with indoor seating that provides a refuge from the buzzing Venetian streets and a shaded outdoor patio that adds a serene touch for those seeking to dine under open skies. The setting is relaxed yet refined, ideal for couples, families, or groups looking to enjoy a leisurely meal away from the thrumming tourist paths.

Highlights on the menu exemplify the art of Italian seafood cooking. Dishes like the Potato Gnocchi with Little Squids and Spaghetti Alle Seppie Nere showcase delicate squid ink pasta and tender morsels of fresh seafood that evoke the Adriatic’s rich bounty. The Grigliata Di Pesce Mista serves up a generous array of grilled fish, embodying the genuine taste of Venice’s waters, while the Tagliolini Neri Con Capesante E Pomodorini combines the lightness of scallops with the sweet acidity of cherry tomatoes for a balanced, flavorful plate.

Desserts like their Hausgemachtes Tiramisu enrich the experience, offering a traditional finish that captures the familiar comforts of Italian sweets. Customer stories reflect a menu that rewards repeat visits; one diner, Graeme, admitted that the richness of the mains initially kept them from trying dessert but happily indulged on a second visit, highlighting the tiramisu as a standout finale.

The staff exemplify warmth and attentiveness, striking a balance between professional service and friendly banter, which helps to foster a genuine connection with guests. Whether it is guiding visitors through the menu or offering recommendations on specials, their expertise enhances the dining experience.

This spot appeals especially to those who appreciate refined seafood, traditional recipes with a local twist, and a setting that feels authentically Venetian yet welcoming. Despite being positioned off the main tourist tracks, its reputation for fresh ingredients and generous portions draws a mix of locals and travelers alike. The occasional presence of mosquitoes on the terrace reminds guests that they are truly dining in a historic, water-bound city with all its quaint charms.

In all, Trattoria Bandierette represents more than just a meal; it is an immersion into Venetian culinary tradition, where the quality of ingredients meets refined craftsmanship in dishes that linger in memory long after the last bite.

The only thing we were disappointed with was after our lovely main courses we were too full for dessert. When we first sat the tables were empty as I think we arrived just after opening, however they soon filled with other diners. Our waiter was great and recommended various dishes. Food and drink all tasty and hopefully next time we get that dessert. Update from our first visit above on 8/9/25 We visited again 9/9/25 and managed to find space for dessert. Tried a few different dishes from our first night (except the Bruschetta) and once again enjoyed the tasty food. We sat inside this time to avoid the mosquitos who seem to love our Scottish skin. Finished with Tiramisu, Lemoncello and an espresso.

Nice food - we had the scallop pasta and cutlet. Both were cooked well and we're tasty. The staff were really nice and would make little jokes which was pleasant. The bread basket was great because it came with Alice baguette and bread sticks. The food is quite expensive, but that can be expected in Venice.

Fantastic spot for some lunch away from the most crowded areas of Venice. Outdoor seating area is serene and shaded and the food is amazing! Friendly staff and generous portions of super fresh seafood make it a ‘must eat’ place in Venice!

Just finished dinner with a group of six - everyone was happy! The food was delicious and the portions generous. I had the octopus salad- the octopus was tender and I can definitely recommend it. The liver was also a hit- two of my friends ordered it and loved it, I tried a bite too and it’s a great choice for liver fans. The cuttlefish was another favorite.

We randomly came across this amazing restaurant when we purposely got lost in Venice (each person picked a direction to turn at each junction). That accommodated our large party and created a table for us on their small patio in the alley. The food was amazing! Special of the day was fantastic, would highly recommend the spicy shrimp pasta dish, and the dessert special was a sliced cookie dish that is something we will dream about in the future! Service was excellent and the setting was relaxed. Lots of locals showed up as the evening went on. We would return in a minute!

Best meal I’ve had here so far. The salad was the fullest, most lettuce-forward salad I’ve had in a week (since leaving the US) and the avocado complimented it well. Plus, look at that presentation! The squid ink pasta with scallops was also delicious, I highly recommend. The atmosphere was nice - we sat outside and enjoyed the perfect cool summer evening.

Felt very local. Reasonable prices for delightful food and service--menu had good range for someone seeking traditional venetian dishes, and also a teen seeking no-seafood. Variety of vegetarian options, too. Pasta fresh, service quick and impeccable. Picky Italian-Americans who have been travelling to Venice annually for 20 years.

Remarkable food, but what made the place stand out for us is the service. The guys who run the restaurant, were not only friendly, relaxed, but offered some great recommendations to local food and I sights on culture. We leant what Cankara is in local slang, among other things and insights. Keep on , this was a memorable experience, with great food! We'll come back when we can.
